HOW IS THE STUDIO ADDRESSING COVID-19 AND MY SAFETY?


At Black & Light Studio, we consider our Creatives and their guests our #1 priority. We are closely monitoring developments around COVID-19 and we’re taking the necessary steps to protect our creative community and its clients. Please note, these measures cannot eliminate all risk. If you are in a higher risk category (ex: people above the age of 65 or people with pre-existing medical conditions such as diabetes or heart disease) we recommend obtaining professional guidance and taking extra precautions when you are making the decision to book Black & Light Studio for yourself and your Guests.

What We’re Doing:

State-of-the-Art Studio Sanitization

We have partnered with a local company to treat the studio with a revolutionary anti-microbial spray. This “green clean” treatment works 24/7 to prevent the growth of bacteria, fungi, algae, mold, and viruses. Made of 98% natural ingredients, our Creatives and their guests can feel safe interacting with any surface or material in the Studio. Certified by The Environmental Protection Agency and registered with the Federal Drug Administration, the treatment is recognized and approved for its safety, effectiveness, sustainability. The solution is non-toxic, colorless, odorless, durable, non-leaching, and very importantly, triclosan-free.

Daily Studio Cleaning

We’re committed to cleaning The Studio and its amenities based on guidance from the CDC on a regular basis while also providing a Sanitation Station of products for Guests to use before and after each booking.

Guest Guidelines

To protect one another’s health and safety, we ask that Creatives and their guests exhibiting any symptoms of illness reschedule their reservation and stay home until fully recovered.

We’re strategically placing signage located at the entrance and in the restroom to ensure that our healthy Creatives and their guests utilize masks in the studio (when not being photographed).

Be sure to wash your hands before, during, and after your booking and utilize the hand sanitizer provided in our Sanitation Station. Wash your hands properly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Wash them after using the studio restroom, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Social Distancing

Maximum capacity in our 2,150 sqft Studio is currently limited to 20 people total in order to support social distancing measures required by the State of Texas. When meeting with your party members, please remember, don’t shake hands or hug—instead, try a no-contact greeting.

We ask that all Creatives and their Guests are follow these guidelines. During these difficult and unprecedented times, let’s do our best to support one another and promote the well-being of our community.




WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?


We understand the need for flexibility when “life happens”. Clients can cancel reservations up to 24 hours prior to start of rental period and receive credit to use towards a future rental with no additional charge. We do not offer refunds for cancellations; this credit will expire in 90 days. We do not offer credits or refunds for cancellations less than 24 hours from start of rental period.

Upon cancellation, you will receive a credit for the quantity of hours booked or the dollar amount purchased for 4-HR, 6-HR or 8-HR reservations that can be applied towards a future reservation.

Please note - 4-HR, 6-HR or 8-HR reservation hours cannot be split up and used separately.




CAN I BRING A PET?


We love pet photography and videos! Your furbabies are more than welcome to come into the space with you and your family. We do ask that you be mindful and bring appropriate cleaning supplies for any messes or hair left by the pet. We ask that you assume responsibility for returning the studio to its original condition and be courteous of those using the studio before and after you.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY TO BOOK?


The windows face east and southeast to provide direct light in the mornings and muted dispersed light until dusk. If you prefer a brighter more illuminating vibe, we suggest booking the studio during morning hours. If you prefer a softer more subtle light for a moody vibe, we suggest booking the studio during afternoon hours.

Each of the ten 10-foot windows is mounted with a motorized true-white roller shade to diffuse natural light as needed.

In the event you require more light, the studio is equipped with 18 overhead 5,000K daylight-white LED tracks.




HOW EARLY CAN I ARRIVE FOR MY RESERVATION?


You are welcome to arrive no more than 10 minutes before your scheduled time. We ask that you please be mindful of the guests still using the space and remain in the waiting area by the front door until your reserved time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes ahead of schedule, the card on file will be charged the overtime fee rate $10 for every 5 min.




WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO A RESTROOM?


Yes! Our restroom is conveniently located inside the studio with plenty of space to for wardrobe change.




HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I BRING WITH ME DURING MY RESERVATION?


In adherence with COVID-19 safety and social distancing guidelines, the current maximum capacity is 20 people total.




CAN I BRING FOOD AND DRINK?


You are more than welcome to bring in any food or drink into the space. We ask that you please be mindful of the furniture, props, and backdrops. A cleaning fee will be applied to any stained upholstery or damaged amenities.

In regard to alcoholic beverages, for persons 21 or older, please follow TABC guidelines to ensure responsible use and consumption in the space and please keep all food and drinks inside the studio.




HOW BIG IS THE STUDIO SPACE?


At 2,150 total square feet, we offer one of the largest natural light studio spaces in Dallas / Ft. Worth. Our open space allows for more backdrops, more furniture and more props to create content with a variety of backgrounds.




WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED EXACTLY?


We are located just off Dallas North Tollway at the southeast corner of Midway Road and Trinity Mills Road at 2650 Midway Rd, suite 226, Carrollton, TX 75006. Same building as Krav Maga and Phenix Salon Suites, and HM Beauty Supply.




WHERE DO I PARK?


Ample retail parking is located just outside the studio with stress-free elevator access to the second floor.




CAN I PLAY MUSIC?


Of course! You are encouraged to create the perfect mood for your shoot by connecting to our surround-sound Bluetooth speakers. We ask you remain mindful of our neighbors and keep your music to a respectful volume to ensure you do not disrupt others – especially the spa next door. Instructions to connect can be found in your welcome package upon arrival.




WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED?


  • No FULLY nude photography, videography, and explicit sexual activity (please note: TASTEFUL boudoir photography is permitted, please be mindful the Studio has large windows facing public view to allow natural light in the space and is located in a shared commercial buildings along with other tenants)
  • No Shoes on white floor. Use studio-provided show coverings or wear socks, barefoot is OK, feel free to bring house slippers
  • No smoking or vaping allowed within 25 feet of all entrance, exits, windows, and air take vents
  • No recreational or illicit drugs
  • No alcohol shall be consumed by Renters and associates under the age of 21
  • No glitter, paper confetti, fake snow, smoke bombs
  • No fire, however, Renter may use unlit candles
  • No fireworks
  • No loud music above 60 decibels (must not be audible beyond the walls, doors, and windows of the Studio).
  • No affixing anything to walls or rolling backdrops including nailing, hanging or taping (painters tape is OK)
  • All children and pets must be supervised at all times
  • The renter may not sublease the Studio to any third party




HOW FAR IN ADVANCE CAN I RESERVE MY SESSION?


Space reservations can be made up to four months in advance. The perfect opportunity to reserve your pre-purchased '10 / 20 / 30 Hour Package' slots at your preferred times.




WHERE DO I DISPOSE OF TRASH?


We have a small trash can available in the studio, but please take larger bulky rubbish with you when you leave. You are welcome to discard larger trash items in the back-parking lot dumpster. We ask that you assume responsibility for returning the studio to its original condition.




WHAT DOES MY STUDIO RESERVATION INCLUDE?


Your reservation includes the use of all the furniture, props and accessories, rolling backdrops, and lighting tripods in our current inventory. You are welcome to bring in props that will enhance your shoot, however, please be mindful of items not allow (see list below).

Our studio is equipped with WIFI and the Bluetooth surround sound speakers, passwords can be found in your welcome packet. We encourage you to stay safe and hydrated with our complimentary sanitation station supplies and water from the refrigerator.




CAN I ALSO RENT PHOTOGRAPHY OR VIDEOGRAPHY GEAR?


While we provide the space and amenities for creatives to bring their visions to life, we do not rent cameras, lenses, or lighting at this time.

Fortunately, we are located less than 2 miles away from two premier North Dallas gear rental suppliers, which makes it easy for you to pick up equipment on the way to our studio.

WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO WIFI?


YES! And you are welcome to login as a guest during your reservation. We will provide WIFI login credentials in you welcome packet.




I’M LOOKING FOR A PHOTOGRAPHER. CAN THE STUDIO PROVIDE ONE FOR MY SHOOT?


Of course, the Owner is a professional photographer and would love to set up a consult with you to help you realize your vision. When you choose to book her services, the studio space rental is FREE of charge.




WHAT HAPPENS IF MY SHOOT ENDS EARLY?


We ask that you only book the number of hours needed when making your reservation an hourly or day reservation. We do not offer partial refunds for unused hours. This pertains to the 1, 2, and 3-HR reservations as well as the 4, 6, and 8-hour packages. The reason being, you have booked that slot making it unavailable for others to reserve. If you wish for more flexibility, consider purchasing the 10, 20, or 30-hour bundles, as you have several months to use them as needed.




CAN I WEAR SHOES?


SORTA... WE'RE OFFICIALLY A NO SHOES aka BOOTIES ZONE Help keep the studio safe and ultra-delicate white floors scuff-free. We’ve designed an ultra-white environment to reflect the natural light and produce an illuminated environment. Keeping the floors white is definitely a challenge, one we're happy to take on, but we need YOUR help. • Please REMOVE shoes by the front door – or – use provided shoe coverings
• Clients that are photo-ready can keep shoes on and remove shoe coverings for images
• Please carry / pick up furniture rather than drag them, the painted concrete is super persnickety and scuffs easily.
• Use the provided furniture dollies to help with heavier items.




WHAT IF MY SHOOT RUNS OVER TIME


Please book enough time to set up, shoot in the space, and clean up after your shoot. This includes returning all props and furniture back to the way you found them. We ask that you be mindful of the reservation starting after you. An overtime fee will be automatically be charged to the card on file at a rate of $10 for every 5 minutes over the original reservation end time. This overtime charge applies to all guests/clients in your reservation. This also applies to reservation start time, you may arrive up to 10 minutes early, we ask you to be mindful of the reservation wrapping up ahead of you. If you arrive more than 10 minutes ahead of schedule, the card on file will be charged the overtime fee rate listed above. Your reservation time starts at the time booked, regardless of if you arrive late.
